MY WORKS

“Never stop asking why…or why not?”

The words above sum up the broad range of the works in my fall 2009 show. From the fantastic to the erotic, from innocent to lustful, every piece stands on its own, telling a story from various unique perspectives and, in the end, not shutting the door on any finite interpretation in our minds and souls.

What was impossible yesterday becomes possible today,  turning into the norm tomorrow. After all, fantastic events are constantly happening around us, and we accept them without a moment of hesitation. Perhaps, someday people will be living inside giant robots and we all travel in city size airships? Who knows…

Speaking of perspectives, many of my works tell stories from different directions: a drug raid gone bad, a good cop lying in his own blood, his colleagues trying to save him. How did it end up like this? How many kids does he have? What’s going to happen next? I step into that moment, isolate one frame, leaving enough room for my viewer to complete the story, before and after, much like connecting dots through an image, a set of colors and light.

Primal instincts power the emotional spectrum of my works. Voyeurism, lust and raw sexual energy fascinates me, especially the challenge of translating those energies onto any artistic medium. Therefore, I always find it challenging and simply fascinating. A wellspring of my erotica and nudes traces back to my   “13 Rooms” fantasy.  A young woman agrees to take on a job during her lunch time from her office to explore 13 different rooms across the city, thus touching off a glimpse into a world where few dare to speak but many often imagine.  I have had the good luck of being helped by many friends turned muses who travel with me to  the far recesses.

Storyboards and concept arts are a big part of my works. Beyond serving their purpose for film, TV and video games productions, I find them to be equally beautiful and no less important than any other of my art. Again, why and why not continue to play a big part in my works, especially in this field.
